One of the standout items here is the Nashville Hot Chicken, praised for its crispy yet juicy texture, demonstrating how Southern cooking can be both indulgent and surprisingly light. Our go to place before a show at the Beacon, it's a far enough walk to work off the enormous portions of comfort food done right. They are moving about 10 blocks north but it will still be our spot for the Upper West side. Stand out dishes for me Nashville hot chicken, slab bacon and street corn
Best Fried Chicken you can get in NYC. Crispy, Juicy, Lighted Breaded, and has good flavor. Overall, it’s amazing Southern Food Cooking and the most important thing is - the food is LIGHT - light for southern cooking! It’s super tasty and all the pickles are amazing. The Sausage Gravy is also noteworthy, you’d think it would weigh you down but it actually lifts you up. I always get the Hot Chicken Biscuit Sandwich and it never disappoints. The portions are HUGE so watch out. I’ve been a couple of times and have gotten the Poutine, Mac & Cheese, All the Pickles, The Cornbread, and more - It’s all good. You’ll have a great time here as it is always busy and the atmosphere is great. Highly Recommend, I am a repeat customer for life.
What a wonderful and filling experience. Every plate that hit our table was the perfect temperature, very warm yet not too hot to eat as well as perfectly presented. Possibly the best fried pickles I’ve had, they’re battered in something similar to hush puppies as opposed to just breaded like most places. Absolutely enormous deviled eggs. Our sandwiches were massive as was the mac & cheese. We 100% needed boxes to take all our food home. I wish I didn’t get so full so I could continue eating. Can’t wait to find out what dessert is like but it was impossible to fathom today. The restaurant itself is designed with such a great vibe and aesthetic. Our server, Jordan, was lovely, polite and prompt, an absolute delight to have help us. Impeccable service. I can’t sing his praises enough. Not only all of this, but the music was a vibe. Every song was a hit and at various points I was dancing a little while eating. Whomever made this playlist has amazing taste. They’re moving but I’ll definitely be hunting this place down at their new location.
Absolutely loved this place. The portions are huge and food is delicious. Highly recommend the horseradish cukes, the burger, spicy chicken biscuit sandwich and the collard greens and black eyed peas. For dessert, you have to try the bread pudding. It’s enormous - topped with 4 scoops of ice cream. Absolutely delicious. Shout out to our server Derrick. He was awesome and gave us some great recommendations.
The pickles are absolutely delicious. The chicken sandwich was crispy and flavorful. The grits was delicious too, the food here does not disappoint. The restaurant has a cute bar feel to it. It has it’s busy times so be prepared to wait for a table. The staff is friendly.
This was a fun experience in New York City. You can get a flight of different kinds of pickled cucumbers, carrots, green beans, etc. We wanted to do the really big flight but they said it would probably be too many for two people if they were right. We tried The one with four different types and we couldn’t finish that. I wish they made smaller portions but still gave you eight different tastes. I highly recommend this place the food besides the pickles and fermented stuff was also very good. The area they’re located in is a very nice area with a lot lesstourists. It’s a great half an hour walk from fifth Avenue well worth it or you can take a taxi or subway.
One of my favorite restaurants while visiting nyc! Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The Buffalo Mac and Cheese was amazing! The service was decent but when it gets busy and chaotic they seem to be a little disorganized. We didn’t even know who our server/waiter was because a few different guys would come back to check on us back and forth.
During our New York City trip, I kept hearing glowing reviews about Jacob’s Pickles, so I knew it had to be on our must-visit list. We arrived around noon on a Wednesday and were promptly seated. My husband went for the special—Oreo Biscuit French Toast—while I chose the Maple Chicken and Toast. Both dishes were absolutely outstanding. The portions were so generous that we had more than enough to share, and my son eagerly sampled both of our meals, with plenty of leftovers to spare. If only our hotel had a microwave, I would’ve loved to take the leftovers back to enjoy later! The staff, including our server, were incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the experience even more delightful. I’m already looking forward to returning to try other tempting dishes like the poutine, buffalo mac 'n' cheese, and fried Oreos. My advice to anyone visiting is to come hungry—the portions are massive, and the menu is filled with mouthwatering options that will definitely leave you satisfied!
